Abstract:

Mr. Santosh V Vijay will give a talk on two topics. Innovation & Building a Great Career. Using the culture of Philips that has innovated amazing products for over 100 years, he will discuss the role of innovation for an emerging economy. He will bring his 28yrs of vast experiences from working in Electronic Wire and Wireless Communications, Consumer Electronics, Medical Electronics, Health and Hospital Care industries, to describe what is “Innovation”. He will discuss attributes that sustain innovation and specific drivers that are being applied to an emerging market such as India’s. He will attempt to kindle the audience’s creative thinking to imagine going from idea to a value product.
As a bonus, he will present a second topic from his experience of being a career mentor to his team of 100 or so, on how to develop a great career within one’s passions and goals. This segment of the talk will bring enthusiasm and optimism for graduating students and members of industry as they plan to grow in their future careers.

Speaker Bio:

Santosh completed B.E. in Electronics & Communication from S.J.C.E Mysore in 1994 and started career his career with Sasken as a Software Engineer and grew into Program Manager / Delivery Manager. He worked on Wireless Technologies – AMPS, TDMA, GSM/GPRS and CDMA on both network and handset side.

While working @ Sasken, Santosh completed his MS in Telecommunications & Software Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago in 1999 with a perfect CGPA of 4.0 / 4.0. He also did a 6 week Executive Management Development Program from IIM Bangalore in 2001.

In 2002, Santosh moved to GE Healthcare where he worked for the next 8 years and played various Engineering Management roles in India and China. For a brief period in 2009, he took on a role in Strategic Alliances responsible for setting up a 50-50 Joint Venture in the area of Healthcare IT with an influential partner in the State of Qatar.

For the last 2 years, Santosh is the Director for Computed Tomography & Nuclear Medicine R&D team of 100 engineers at Philips Innovation Center. His team is a diverse mix of Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Verification and Quality & Regulatory engineers with deliveries to multiple product lines in the Philips portfolio.
