Business Process Management Workshop: Background and Context |
|
The ubiquitous presence of IT in every aspect of organizations and society requires today's managers and executives to have a clear understanding of the role technology plays in advancing business strategies. Fast changing, competitive landscapes require innovations in business practices that are often enabled by IT applications. Therefore business and IT leaders frequently need to collaborate on continuous innovations in business processes and explore how IT can accelerate and enable these innovations. The main objective of this workshop is to impart sufficient understanding of the issues we encounter in evaluating, designing, implementing and managing business processes. |

Objectives of the Workshop |

The workshop will use real business case studies in interactive sessions to deliver the core content. A course packet consisting of workshop notes, articles and business case studies will be given to each workshop participant. |

Raghu Santanam is an Associate Professor of Information Systems, W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, USA. His current research focuses on Health Information Technology, Business Process Change, Security and Information Supply Chains. He has worked with a number of organizations on Information Systems and Business Process related issues. He has been a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on several projects with Corporations (including Intel, IBM and others) and Government entities.

Dr. Santanam is a guest editor of a special issue of the Journal Decision Support Systems on "Cyber infrastructure for Homeland Security: Advances in Information Sharing, Data Mining, and Collaboration Systems." He serves as an Associate Editor for Information Systems Research, Decision Support Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems and Journal of Electronic Commerce Research. He is the Program Co-Chair for the Workshop on e-Business, 2009 and is the co-chair of the Research Methods Track of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in 2009. |
