Foreign Students visit to ISiM

Students from The University of Maryland, Institute for International Programs Education Abroad programme visited International School of Information Management, University of Mysore on January 11, 2012 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Out of the twelve students’ in the group two students were from University of Illinois and one student from University of Indiana and nine students from University of Maryland.
They undertook a tour of the ISiM campus and had an informal discussion with the ISiM students. The group while interacting with ISIM students shared their experiences of studying in the US and in turn got to know about studying in India. Prof. Taverekere (Kanti) Srikantaiah, who headed the study tour, also spoke about the University of Maryland and the different courses it offers. The University of Maryland, School of Information Studies offers four different courses on Library and Information Science, Information Management, Human Computer Interaction and PhD programme in multi-disciplinary subjects.
Prof. Shalini R Urs addressed the group and informed them about ISiM’s journey from conception to execution and how ISiM has evolved since the beginning. She explained the ideas of people behind the evolution of ISiM. The International Students while being appreciative of the culture edge were interested in knowing the syllabus of ISiM that includes courses on Knowledge Management, Human Computer Interactions and Information Systems Design.
Mr. Pouria Noraseth of the Master of Information Management program of University of Maryland suggested including course on “Risk Management” and “Project Management”.
It was a good experience for both ISiM students and the students from abroad.
